TN5250 Connection (Display Session)

IP Host Name
This is the name, or IP address, of the host computer to connect to. If a text string is entered the TCP/IP protocol will translate it into an IP address.  The IP address number can also be entered directly. Both IPv4 and IPv6 are supported.

TCP Port
The default value for this parameter is 23. Normally, this number is only changed for security purposes.

Timeout (sec)
This value designates the number of seconds to wait for a host connection. If a connection is not made within this time period and there are alternate back-up IP Host Names configured in the  Advanced tab, then an attempt to connect to those IP Host Names will be made.

Auto Reconnect
If this option is enabled, PASSPORT will try to reestablish a session with the host if that session times out or is unexpectedly disconnected or if the host is down when trying to connect. PASSPORT will attempt to reconnect after first waiting for 1 second, then 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 seconds, and then 30 seconds thereafter between each attempt until a connection is established. This helps reduce network traffic. Once PASSPORT successfully connects to the host, the reconnection value will be reset to 1 second again.

If you log off a host session, the host session will be disconnected and another session with the host will automatically be initiated, returning you to the host logon prompt. If this option is not selected, you will get a blank screen if disconnected from your mainframe session. You will then have to perform a Communication>Disconnect command followed by a Communication>Connect command to reestablish the session.

Screen Size
For TN5250 sessions, model 2 and model 5 can be configured. The model number refers to the number of rows and columns the terminal can display. Model 2 provides 24 row 80 column display. Model 5 provides 27 row 132 column display.

Telnet Device Type Override
This text entry provides the ability to override the Device Type string that is automatically generated by the Screen Size setting. For TN5250 model 2 screen size, "IBM-3179-2" is the default telnet device type. For TN5250 model 5 screen size, "IBM-3477-FC" is the default telnet device type.

Host Code Page
Select the appropriate host code page that is used by the host computer system. This selection determines the translation tables used to convert text characters between the host and the PC. The default is 1140 for US/Canada with Euro support.

TN5250E Support
If this option is selected, TN5250E enhanced terminal emulation is enabled providing support for connection to a specific LU or LU pool.  If this option is not selected, then basic TN5250 emulation is used.

Resource Name
This is the name of the specific LU or LU pool to connect to on your host. Your system administrator must give you the correct information to enter here.
