IP Host Name
This is the name, or IP address, of the host computer to connect to. If
a text string is entered the TCP/IP protocol will translate it into an
IP address. The IP address number can also be entered directly.
Both IPv4 and IPv6 are supported.
TCP Port
The default value for this parameter is 23. Normally, this number is only
changed for security purposes. If you are configuring a VT SSH session
you will most likely need to change this value to 22, the default port
number for SSH.
Timeout (sec)
This value designates the number of seconds to wait for a host connection.
If a connection is not made within this time period and there are alternate
back-up IP Host Names configured in the Advanced tab,
then an attempt to connect to those IP Host Names will be made.
Auto Reconnect
If this option is enabled, PASSPORT will try to reestablish a session with
the host if that session times out or is unexpectedly disconnected or
if the host is down when trying to connect. PASSPORT will attempt to reconnect
after first waiting for 1 second, then 5, 10, 15, 20, 25 seconds, and
then 30 seconds thereafter between each attempt until a connection is
established. This helps reduce network traffic. Once PASSPORT successfully
connects to the host, the reconnection value will be reset to 1 second
again.
If you log off a host session using a command such as EXIT, the host session will be disconnected and another session with the host will automatically be initiated, returning you to the host log on prompt. If this option is not enabled, you will then have to perform a Communication>Disconnect command followed by a Communication>Connect command to reestablish the session.
Screen Size
For VT sessions, there are two menus available to configure the screen
size: Lines and Columns. In the Lines menu, you can select or type any
amount from 24 to 144. In the Columns menu, you can only select 80 or 132.
Telnet Device Type Override
This text entry provides the ability to override the device type string
that is automatically generated by the VT emulation type setting. For
VT52 emulation the text string VT52 is used. For VT100 emulation the text
string VT100 is used. For VT420 emulation the text string VT420 is used.
Host Code Page
Select the appropriate host code page that is used by the host computer
system. This selection determines the translation tables used to convert
text characters between the host and the PC.
VT Emulation Type
Three types of VT emulation are supported: VT420, VT100 and VT52. If you
need to connect as VT220 or VT320 select VT420 since it is a super-set
and includes all the other VT emulation features.
Control Code
If the VT emulation type selected is VT420, then either select 7-Bit or
8-Bit depending on the requirements of the host system.
Scroll
Back Buffer (n) Lines
This option allows you to activate the history log which stores data (in
lines) that are no longer displayed on the screen. You can then
use the scroll bar on the right side of the PASSPORT window to scroll
back and view previous host screens. The default number of lines in the
history log is 24. However, you can increase this log to a maximum of
2000 lines.
