TN3270 Attention Key Sequence
This parameter determines the sequence of characters sent to the host whenever
the TN3270 Attention key is pressed. Unfortunately, there is no industry
standard method of sending the TN3270 Attention key using basic TN3270.
As a result, PASSPORT supports the TN3270 Attention key differently depending
upon the TN3270 Server. Select Telnet
if you use a non-IBM TCP/IP host package. Select IBM
if you use an IBM TN3270 Server or IBM mainframe TCP/IP host program.
When TN3270E is configured, this configuration parameter is not available
and ignored, as TN3270E offers a standard method to send the TN3270 Attention
key to the host.
Backspace Key Method
This setting determines how the backspace key performs. The backspace key
method can be set to any of the following:
Auto Skipping Backspace
If the cursor is in an unprotected field, performs as Backspace. If
the cursor is in a protected field, it moves to the last position
of the previous unprotected field.
Backspace
The cursor is moved one space to the left. If the cursor is located
in an unprotected field the character at that position is deleted.
Backspace/Stop at Field
Attribute
If the position to the left of the cursor is in an unprotected field,
the cursor is moved one space to the left and the character in that
position is deleted. Otherwise, the X inhibited condition is displayed
in the OIA area. The Reset key must then be pressed to reset this
condition.
Cursor Left
The cursor is moved one space to the left. The character is not deleted.
This is a non-destructive backspace.
Cursor Left/Stop at Field
Attribute
If the position to the left of the cursor is in an unprotected field,
the cursor is moved one space to the left. Otherwise, the X inhibited
condition is displayed in the OIA area. The Reset key must then be
pressed to reset this condition.
Show Unprotected
Fields
Enable and select one of the following to determine how unprotected fields
are displayed on the screen: Dot, Underline (default) or Reverse Video.
Automatically Unlock Keyboard and Reset
X SYSTEM
If you press the ENTER key or some other host key and the X SYSTEM stays
on the OIA line and does not go away, then select this check box. This
can occur when the IBM Host application does not send the Keyboard
Unlock command to PASSPORT. This rarely happens, but when it does,
it is usually with very old mainframe programs, and with CICS.
Numeric Field Checking
When enabled, this function allows only the numbers "0" through
"9", the "+", the "-", the "."
and the "," characters to be entered into TN3270 fields that
are marked as numeric entry fields. "NUM" is displayed in the
Operator Information Area (OIA) whenever the cursor is positioned on a
numeric field.
Send Reset key before Tab and Arrow Keys
If you check this option and you use
any of the up, down, left or right arrow keys, or the Tab, Back Tab, Home
or Newline keys, the Reset key is sent first to release any keyboard inhibit
condition. A keyboard inhibit condition is indicated by the X in the OIA
status line. Then the up, down, left or right arrow key is sent to move
the cursor accordingly.
Display 3270 Program Check Error
If you check this option, any invalid 3270 data stream program check error
messages are displayed in the Operator Information Area (OIA) in the form
of X PROG
xxx. The user must issue a RESET command to clear the error and
continue. Un-check this option to ignore the invalid data stream and prevent
the program check errors from displaying. For a list of possible messages,
please refer to Program
Check Errors in the Technical Reference section.
Reset Insert Mode when AID Sent to
Host
When enabled, insert mode is turned off whenever and AID key (Enter, PF1,
etc.) is sent to the host. When disabled, insert mode is not affected
when AID keys are sent to the host.
Allow Cursor Movement to Unprotected Fields
Only
When enabled, the cursor can only be moved to unprotected fields. If an
attempt to move the cursor to a protected field is made the cursor is
not moved. When disabled, the cursor can be positioned anywhere on the
host screen including both protected and unprotected fields.
Display Host Response Time on OIA Line
Enable this option to display in seconds
the host response time after an AID key is pressed. This option is disabled
by default.
